- Events & News
As Franciscans, we see ourselves as brothers to one another, living in community. In this sense, all friars are “brothers” first and foremost. Some friars are called to the ordained ministry of priesthood and use the title, “Father”. Other friars who do not feel called to ordained ministry, and they use the title, “Brother”. Many people are not aware that Francis himself was not a priest. Francis’s focus was always on “the brotherhood”. As a Franciscan brother myself, I’ve been immersed in higher education ministry for more than 24 years, serving at St. Bonaventure University. I love being a Friar and I love my ongoing invitation to work with men considering the Franciscan brotherhood. Is God calling you to be a Franciscan Friar?
